The Wellbeing Champions at City College Plymouth—Carley, Molly, and Carla—have been incredibly active over the past month, engaging in various health and wellbeing activities. They’ve been connecting with their fellow champions and partnering with local businesses to enhance staff knowledge and support for physical health.
Carla’s Coffee and Cake Catch-Up
Carla, one of the Wellbeing Champions, shared an update on their monthly Coffee and Cake Catch-Up. This event is a time for everyone to come together, unwind, and celebrate the wellbeing initiatives happening across the College. This month’s session was particularly special as it took place outside in the sunshine. One champion brought in homemade banana bread, which was a delicious treat just in time for Easter! The session was a huge success, with champions from various departments joining to share ideas, catch up with colleagues, and provide support in their roles. Carla emphasised the importance of these moments of connection, which help strengthen their network and foster a strong sense of community within the Wellbeing Champion Team. She noted that even simple gatherings like this can significantly boost morale and connection.
Molly’s World Health Day Event
Molly organised a fantastic event for World Health Day, aimed at supporting and uplifting staff health and wellbeing. She arranged for the team from Ocean City Chiropractic to spend the day in the College’s Mindfulness Room, offering expert advice, support, and guidance. The atmosphere was welcoming and uplifting, with staff popping in throughout the day for posture checks, personalised support, or simply to take a mindful moment. For those who couldn’t book in advance, a simple sign-in sheet ensured the event remained inclusive and accessible. Molly shared that the day was overwhelmingly positive, with staff appreciating the opportunity to focus on their health and wellbeing. Events like this highlight the real impact of the Wellbeing Champions—creating thoughtful, meaningful experiences that make a difference.
Carley’s Wellbeing Mile
Carley shared that their monthly meetings are always a delightful break from their usual workloads, allowing them to connect and focus on wellbeing. April’s meeting, organised by Carla, was extra special. The session was split into two parts: the first half focused on their wellbeing agenda and updates, while the second half encouraged all champions to walk a wellbeing mile together. Carley explained that this way of connecting was refreshing, allowing them to get moving and put their own wellbeing into action. The walk provided space to talk, laugh, and unwind, lifting everyone’s spirits and bringing them closer together.
Here at Wellbeing at Work, we’d like to give a massive shout-out to Wellbeing Champions Carla, Molly, Carley, and the rest of their team for spreading the wellbeing message and supporting their colleagues in such a meaningful and impactful manner.
