Wellbeing Training delivers professional, accredited training packages to businesses and communities across Plymouth, supporting the development of healthier, more resilient workplaces and communities.

Our training offer includes a mix of virtual and face-to-face sessions, with the majority provided free of charge. For courses that require payment, we ensure they are competitively priced to remain accessible. With a variety of core public courses and bespoke training sessions available, our aim is to raise awareness around physical and mental health.

These sessions equip attendees with the knowledge and confidence to support individuals within their workplaces and communities. We also offer a range of e-learning modules focused on key health issues, designed to raise awareness and encourage healthier lifestyles.

    Join our 3-hour session where you can build the confidence and skills to have supportive, healthy‑lifestyle conversations as part of your everyday interactions. MECC is based on brief, empathetic conversations that help individuals explore their own motivations and empower them to make positive changes.

    Introductory

    Connect 5 is a three‑session evidence‑based programme designed to enhance skills and confidence in having supportive conversations about mental health and wellbeing. Session 1 is a 3.5 hour session that introduces three characters, utilising different techniques to help them deal with various issues and life situations. This allows participants to ‘try out’ different approaches and gain confidence in a supportive environment. . The training draws on principles from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and the Five Ways to Wellbeing, providing practical tools to promote resilience, positive behavioural change, and improved emotional wellbeing.

    Join us for a 3-hour session covering Resilience and Self-care. This course explores how self‑care can help you build resilience and handle everyday stress more effectively. You’ll have the chance to try out different wellbeing techniques and reflect on what works best for you. We’ll also look at what resilience really means and introduce simple, practical self‑care habits you can use in your daily life.

    Overview
    Sessions 2 and 3 are delivered over one day. They build on Session 1 and use the three Connect 5 characters to help participants develop confidence in having everyday mental health and wellbeing conversations. These sessions are suitable for anyone in a supporting role.

    What You’ll Learn

    Session 2: Building Confidence
    You will learn how to support others to improve their mental health and wellbeing, gain an understanding of stress and distress, and explore ways to help people take practical first steps to feel better.

    Session 3: Practical Tools
    This session introduces brief mental health and wellbeing interventions and focuses on supporting self‑management and positive change. You will learn how to apply the Five Areas Model, agree next steps collaboratively, integrate appropriate self‑help resources, and identify effective strategies to support others.

    Important Safety Notice
    Session 2 includes discussion of suicidal thoughts. If any content feels distressing, please speak with a trainer. Support resources will be available.

  • Suicide Awareness

    Join us for a 3-hour supportive session designed to increase understanding of the factors that can contribute to suicide, build confidence in raising concerns, and strengthen knowledge of signposting. Participants will learn how to ask difficult questions, help someone stay safe for now, and feel more able to talk about suicide within their community. The training also highlights local initiatives and sources of support for both those at risk and those offering help.

  • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

    MHFA is a two-day course that requires a minimum of 8–16 delegates, and all participants must be 18 years or older. It is designed to help individuals develop practical skills in recognising early signs and triggers of mental health difficulties. The training builds confidence in offering initial support, encouraging people to seek appropriate professional help, and deepening understanding of the many factors that influence mental health and overall wellbeing. The course is delivered by MHFA England Instructor Members to ensure high‑quality, evidence-based learning.

    Upon completion, participants become certified MHFAiders®, gaining a three-year qualification along with continued access to support resources and a range of exclusive MHFAider® benefits.

  • Mental Health First Aid Refresher Course

    This half-day course is suitable for groups of 8–16 delegates. Participants must be 18 years or older and must have completed the MHFA 2‑day course within the past three years.

    The MHFA Refresher Course is designed to update and reinforce the knowledge and skills of certified Mental Health First Aiders® who completed the full MHFA programme within the last three years. This half‑day session provides an excellent opportunity to renew your confidence, refresh best practice, and demonstrate a continued commitment to valuing mental health on par with physical health—both in the workplace and within the wider community.

  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST)

    10-30 delegates are required for the course.

    ASIST is a two‑day, in‑person training that teaches participants how to recognise and respond to someone at immediate risk of suicide. The course builds confidence, practical intervention skills, and the ability to create a safety plan. It is designed for anyone aged 18 or over who may encounter people in distress. Training is highly interactive, with guided activities and role‑play led by accredited trainers. Due to the sensitive content, some activities may be emotionally challenging, and support is provided throughout.
